While it is possible for Australians to renew their passports online, the procedure for obtaining a new passport involves either applying online and then submitting the application in person at Australia Post, or filling out a paper application and lodging it at a post office.
According to a statement from DFAT, Australians will soon have the option to apply for a new passport online without the necessity of visiting a post office, making the digital application process easier and quicker for individuals.
