It’s a place where mornings begin with golden light over Lake Kawana, afternoons drift into ocean breezes along one of the region’s longest beaches, and evenings hum with events, dining and relaxed coastal charm. Whether you’re here for adventure, leisure or a little of both, Kawana Waters invites you to slow down, dive in and savour the best of coastal Queensland.
At the heart of Kawana Waters lies one of the Sunshine Coast’s premier sports and entertainment precincts. Stockland Park and the Lake Kawana Community Centre host major events year‑round—from national sporting competitions to cultural festivals—bringing a lively energy to the area.
Lake Kawana itself is a man‑made waterway that has become a magnet for water‑sport enthusiasts. Its calm, expansive surface is ideal for kayaking, canoeing, outrigging, dragon boat racing and motorised training sessions. The lake’s foreshores are lined with scenic walking and cycling tracks, perfect for a sunrise jog, a leisurely afternoon ride or simply watching the colourful spectacle of a regatta glide by.
To the north, a marina on the main canal offers a gateway to the region’s waterways. Join a leisurely cruise past elegant waterfront homes and into the Mooloolah River, drifting by the Mooloolaba Yacht Club before reaching the river mouth—an unforgettable way to experience the area from the water.
Kawana Shoppingworld stands as one of the Sunshine Coast’s largest retail destinations. With more than 100 retailers, air‑conditioned comfort and a mix of fashion, food and essential services, it’s a convenient and stylish hub for visitors and locals alike. Whether you’re browsing boutiques, catching a movie or grabbing a bite, it’s a central part of the Kawana experience.
Kawana’s coastline stretches for kilometres—one of the longest uninterrupted oceanfronts in the region. It’s a paradise for surfers, beach walkers and anyone who loves the sound of rolling waves. At the northern end, Point Cartwright rises as a scenic landmark, offering sweeping views over the Pacific Ocean and the Mooloolah River entrance. The walking track along this headland is a favourite for photographers, whale watchers and sunset seekers.
Just below Point Cartwright, La Balsa Park unfolds along the river’s edge. With wide grassy spaces, shaded picnic areas and waterfront views, it’s a beloved spot for barbecues, family gatherings or simply stretching out under a tree. From here, follow the path to the end of the rock wall at the river entrance, then continue through the Point Cartwright Lighthouse Reserve for one of the area’s most picturesque coastal walks.
Kawana Waters is located on the Sunshine Coast, just south of Mooloolaba.
Kawana Waters enjoys a warm, subtropical climate year‑round.
