Baan Baa is located approximately 40 kilometres south east of Narrabri on the Kamilaroi Highway and 30 kilometres north west of Boggabri. Baan Baa was once a bustling railway village and the remains of its bygone era can be explicitly viewed when visiting the historic village. It is primarily a grain terminal, feeding in from the rich grain country with cotton and grains being the main agricultural production. The Baan Baa area is also rich in coal deposits. Not much remains of this once bustling railway village. Baan Baa boasts a church, community hall and tennis courts as well as a cricket ground and historical pub which is open daily for a refreshing drink or delicious meal. The sleepy town of Baan Baa starts to buzz during grain harvest. Baan Baa is pronounced ‘Barn – Bar’ and its Aboriginal meaning is swim away.
